Deferral of 2022 LUI Che Woo Prize – Prize for World Civilisation
4 Mar 2022
Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic which continues to rage across the globe, and in light of the volatile situation where the authorities are still striving to combat the emerging coronavirus variants through vaccination programmes, the work of the LUI Che Woo Prize has been severely affected. The escalating pandemic situation overseas has presented unprecedented challenges to public health and international travelling, with major international conferences announcing postponement recenlty. After thorough discussion, the adjudication process and the relevant activities will be postponed until the circumstances are more favourable.
Members of the Prize Council and Prize Recommendation Committee are required to gather in Hong Kong from all over the world to engage in multiple rounds of in-depth discussions that lead to ideal results. The pandemic, however, has prevented the effective organisation of these deliberations, which would address the broad scope covered by the three categories of the LUI Che Woo Prize, namely Sustainability Prize, Welfare Betterment Prize and Positive Energy Prize and also facilitate the understanding and collaboration between different cultures in line with the Prize’s philosophy.
