Prof. Wei SHYY

Wei Shyy is serving as the Acting President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) starting from 1 February 2018, with concurrent appointment as the Executive Vice-President and Provost cum Chair Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. He has been appointed as the 4th President of HKUST with effect from 1 September 2018. He is the author or co-author of five books and numerous journal and conference articles dealing with a broad range of topics related to aerial and space flight vehicles. He is General Editor of the Cambridge Aerospace Book Series (Cambridge University Press) and Co-Editor-in Chief of nine-volume Encyclopedia of Aerospace Engineering (2010). He has received the 2003 AIAA Pendray Aerospace Literature Award and the ASME 2005 Heat Transfer Memorial Award. His professional views have been quoted in various news media, including the Washington Post and SCMP.
