Prof. RAO Zihe

Zihe Rao, Member of  Presidium of  Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor at Tsinghua University and Former President of Nankai University .

Zihe Rao mainly engaged in the study of the three-dimensional structures of proteins and viruses related to human infection or those with important physiological functions, as well as in the development of innovative drug treatment. To date, Prof Rao has published 315 peer-reviewed papers in international scientific journals with over 10,000 citations. His studies have involved many emerging and re-emerging disease pathogens in humans, such as influenza, SARS, HIV, HAV, HFMDV, and this research has led to groundbreaking progress in understanding the mechanism of viral life cycle. 

From 2003, Prof. Rao was elected as a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a Member of the Third World Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of Hertford College, Oxford, a Member of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, the Corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Honorary Doctor of University of Glasgow and Hong Kong Baptist University. Currently, he is serving as the Chairman of Biophysics Society of China and the President of International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB).
