With the establishment of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Lui Che Woo Prize and K.Wah Group have previously jointly sponsored the Hong Kong Palace Museum Volunteer Program, in order to promote public understanding of traditional Chinese culture.

Volunteers who completed the training had the opportunity to apply what they learnt by participating in the work of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, including planning educational activities, cultural relic restoration and museum management, etc.

Ng Kam Ho, Assistant Project Manager of Lui Che Woo Prize, said that he mainly learned about Chinese history and culture through school education and books in the past, but by participating in different museum exhibitions and voluntary work, he could truly enhance his understanding of Chinese culture, reflect on the cultural significance contained in the exhibits, and truly appreciate them.

Another volunteer, Hui Ting Hui, Assistant Director of Corporate Affairs of K.Wah Group, also participated in this volunteer project. He mainly manages the group’s archives, historical research and collection care on a daily basis, but still felt that during the participation process, everyone’s understanding of Chinese culture was enhanced, and it can be applied in our daily lives and work. He gained valuable insight into the museum’s daily operations and gained access to some of the most valuable artifacts which had not previously been displayed through the volunteer program.

Lui Prize aims to promote youth development, culture and the arts, and other diversified activities in order to actively contribute to the Hong Kong community. This will be an invaluable step in the first step toward promoting communication and dialogue among world civilisations.
